Professors Keith Owens, Michael R. Gibson, Eric Ligon, Alex Egner and Michèle Wong Kung Fong make up the core of the DRC’s group of faculty researchers. Together they offer years of experience in design research, design education, granting and professional practice. Based on the unique requirements of any particular research project, this group works collaboratively with one another, with other faculty from within the College of Visual Design and Design (CVAD) and with faculty from across the University of North Texas (UNT) campus. This approach ensures that DRC research partners have access to and benefit from the entire spectrum of scholarly and institutional resources offered by CVAD and UNT. Biographical information and a synopsis of each member's research interests and expertise is listed below. More in-depth information about each of these faculty members can be found at the UNT Faculty Profile System.
Events at DRC
The DRC became UNT CVAD’s newest center for research, public service and development on the first day of the 2011 Spring semester. The DRC will function as both an urban, design-centered research lab and as a classroom facility that supports the MA and MFA programs in Design with Concentrations in Innovation Studies. Please pay attention to this space as the calendar for 2011 advances for more information about what we’re planning.
Five graduate level courses in CVAD’s MA and MFA programs in Design: Innovation Studies began meeting in this design research laboratory as soon as Spring semester 2011 classes began. This array of courses is being taught by Department of Design faculty and DRC researchers Keith Owens, Michael R. Gibson and Eric Ligon to both first- and second-year MFA candidates and first-year MA candidates. Please pay attention to this space to learn when reports of student and faculty research, design output and other scholarly activity will be displayed or discussed publicly within the DRC.
