Monet Exhibit at the Kimbell
September, 1997

The Monet Exhibit at the Kimbell Art Museum ended September 14, 1997. We went to the Kimbell Art Museum on Saturday, September 13 to visit the exhibit. Monet was a Impressionist artist. He was the leader of the Impressionists. The colors in Monet’s pictures depended on his feelings. He did mostly landscapes and played with light in his paintings. He said, "I want to paint the air and that is nothing less than impossible." He would get up at 3:30 in the morning to take advantage of the misty atmosphere. He said, "To me, the motif is an insignificant factor. What I want to paint is between me and the motif."

The exhibit was fascinating. Monet’s pictures were so colorful and bright. One of the most beautiful pictures was of the sunset. It had reds, yellows, pinks, blues, purples, and greens. Monet often did several pictures from the same angle. It would be nice if he were still alive so we could have more of his beautiful artwork.

Monet’s wife died after having her last child in 1879 at age 32. Monet painted her as she laid in her death bed.

We invite you to take advantage of our local museums. It can be fun!
