Mokuhanga Workshop

Kazuko Goto Mokuhanga Relief Printing Workshop with Kazuko Goto

Saturday, March 31 and Sunday April 1, 2012, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Mokuhanga is a traditional Japanese woodblock printing technique also known as ukiyo-e, or picture of the floating world. This workshop will introduce students to the basic mokuhanga technique and enable them to produce multiple color woodblock prints using the kento registration system. Participants will carve blocks, prepare paper, and print a small edition. Because mokuhanga does not require a printing press or toxic chemicals, those who have taken the workshop can print safely at home afterwards. Maximum Enrollment: 10

Kazuko Goto was born in Japan and moved to the United States in 1993 to study art. She received a BFA in 1999 from University of Wyoming and earned an MFA in Printmaking at University of Dallas in 2002. She currently teaches printmaking and drawing at several Dallas/Fort Worth community colleges. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally and she regularly participates in portfolio exchanges.
