The Attenders by artist Sharon Louden of New York is a series of 16 unique serigraphs that challenge the exploration of line. The use of luminescent paint that "glows" during a light/dark cycle adds the element of phosphoresces. This series of work provocatively reveals the artists' fascination with light, reflectivity and shadows by using "minimal" yet elegant, gestured strokes, which celebrate the rhythm of form and space.
Intended to be viewed in a dual setting (light and dark), The Attenders, suggest the impression of light and surprise similar to their sculptural counterparts. The use of luminous paint may not be recognized by viewer at first glance; they see a subtle palette of grays and the illusion of movement as the essence of shadows appear as though they are traveling in and out of a shallow space. The added surprise element is revealed when the work is viewed in darkness; a stunning yet gracefully elegant image, not vividly seen in brightness, brilliantly "glows" revealing the artists character forms and gestures.
