Beyond Resistance: A Conversation About Undocumented Youth Activism and Transformative PedagogiesFeaturing recent research on undocumented youth activism in North Texas. Mariela Nuñez-Janes is Associate Professor of Anthropology at UNT. Her action research relies on feminist pedagogies and involves working with migrant youth and college students to address issues of representation and educational inequity.

Mario Ovalle is a UNT alumnus (2015) and current graduate student at Hunter College. He co-authored (with Dr. Nuñez-Janes) "Organic Activists: Undocumented Youth Creating Spaces of Acompañamiento," an article published in the journal Diaspora in 2016.

This special event is part of the La Colectiva Lecture Series, and is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Department of Art Education and Art History.
