Exhibit Preview & Artist Talk: Jessica Hurd, Amahiguere Dolo, Souleyman Ouloguem

Dolo Preview ImageJoin art historian Jessica Hurd with artists Amahigueré Dolo and Souleyman Ouloguem for a special preview of our upcoming Dogon exhibition, on loan from The Menil Collection in Houston, Texas. The exhibition will be on view this fall in the Gough Gallery at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center.

Malian sculptor Amahigueré Dolo is internationally recognized for creating expressive wood forms and drawings on the crumpled surfaces of repurposed cement paper. Dolo is part of the exhibition ReCollecting Dogon now on view at The Menil Collection. His installation Components of the World (Adouron Bew), 2007, is the first presentation of his work in an American museum. The installation will travel to the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center this fall. The artists will discuss the upcoming exhibition with art historian Jessica Hurd.
