Guest speakers: curatorial staff from Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology
Two members of the curatorial staff of the Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) will be speaking to students in AEAH 4848: Senior Seminar and any other interested parties at CVAD.
Emma McClendon is Associate Curator of Costume at the Museum at FIT, where she has curated and co-curated exhibitions such as Uniformity (2016) and Yves Saint Laurent + Halston: Fashioning the 70s.
Elizabeth Way is Assistant Curator at the Museum at FIT. Ms. Way has most recently co-curated the FIT exhibition Black Fashion Designers (2017) and is a contributing author to the exhibition catalog Expedition: Fashion from the Extreme, published by Thames and Hudson, which accompanies the exhibition of the same name that just opened at FIT on September 15th.
In their informal presentation, they will be discussing such things as their career trajectories and their day-to-day work at the Museum at FIT as well as brainstorming about building a study collection component of the Texas Fashion Collection and how that might come to fruition in its space in the new building.
