UNT CVAD welcomes Hans-Peter (Hepi) Wachter as the new Chair of the Department of Design
UNT College of Visual Arts & Design is pleased to announce that Hans-Peter (Hepi) Wachter will be joining the College of Visual Arts and Design this summer as the new Chair of the Department of Design.
Wachter, ASID, AIA, IDEC, is a widely-published practitioner/scholar of interior design, with a research focus on community health and design, environmental gerontology and trans-disciplinary collaboration. Having earned his MFA from the State Academy of Arts, Düsseldorf, Wachter spent a decade running successful design firms in Germany. Wachter comes to CVAD as Chair and Professor from the University of Oklahoma where, in addition to his faculty position Interior Design he held affiliated courtesy appointments in both the College of Liberal Studies and the OU Health Science Center.
Thanks to Associate Dean Eric Ligon and the search committee for their efforts in the search and thanks as well to all of those who helped to facilitate the process.
And… a most particular and heartfelt thank you is due to Cynthia Mohr who has led the Design Department as its Chair since 2003. During her years as Chair, Mohr has accomplished all of the tasks that keep a department running – the budget, the scheduling, the constant stream of paperwork – she has more importantly served as a constant mentor, for student, faculty, and college and university administrators alike. A tireless supporter of international study, Mohr will continue teaching in the Interior Design program through Fall 2017. After this time she will be moving to Florence to work with SRISA (Santa Reparata International School of Art), where she will continue to help mentor our CVAD students.
Please join us in thanking Cynthia for her service and welcoming Hepi to our CVAD community!
