UNT CVAD Welcomes Stephen Zhang, Assistant Professor of Communication Design
The Department of Design is pleased to announce that Stephen Zhang will join the CVAD faculty and the Communication Design Program this fall. Stephen Zhang brings his extensive professional experience to the program as a design leader with a focus in branding. He started his careers as an Assistant Professor at the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, China. He then received an MFA degree in Communication Design at the UNT College of Visual Arts and Design.
Stephen was Vice President and Image Director at Fossil, helping to shape its global brand direction and the omni-channel presentation. He also served as Creative Director at Filson during its rebranding phase. In addition, Stephen was the Creative Director at the branding design agency Lodge 26. Stephen has won numerous design awards, including the Grand Prize of Infiniti National Student Art Competition, Communication Arts, Graphis, How, Print, Type Director’s Club, and many more.
He has served as a judge in both professional and student design competitions; he has also spoken at conferences on brand design and design management. Stephen continues to serve as an adviser and board member of both for-profit and non-profit organizations to support their efforts in brand building.
