UNT CVAD Welcomes Kristina Smith, Studio Art Technician in Photography

Kristina SmithUNT College of Visual Arts & Design is pleased to announce that Kristina Smith will be joining CVAD this fall as Studio Art Technician in Photography. Thanks to the search committee members Angela Vanecek, Dornith Doherty and Zak Loyd for their service in conducting the search this summer.

Kristina Smith is a multimedia artist and writer whose creative research explores memory, identity, and cultural erasure. Their recent work examines late-stage capitalism, mental illness, and the exploitation of the working class. Smith holds an MFA with distinction, in Photography from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX (Aug 2013) and a BFA in Studio Art: Photography + Spatial Arts from Youngstown State University (May 2008) in Youngstown, Ohio. Smith recently completed residencies at Pocosin Arts (Columbia, NC) and Mendocino Art Center (Mendocino, CA) and is part of the inaugural artist-in-residence group at The Cedars Union, an arts incubator in Dallas, TX.
