TCU Art Galleries Hiring 50 Womxn to Participate in Project by Alicia Eggert.
Womxn-identified individuals are invited to participate in a series of live performance interventions across TCU’s campus, devised by artist Alicia Eggert as part of our exhibition "Flâneuse" at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, August 30th – September 29, 2018.
We are looking for a core group of 50 womxn-identified people interested in working with us. Performers will be tasked with standing at predetermined times and spaces on TCU’s campus. Participants will wear a sign for the duration of the performance and will be responsible for the sign for the duration of the exhibition. No training or special clothing is necessary. Must be able to stand or sit with accommodations, relatively still for one hour outdoors. Performers will be paid by the hour.
"Flâneuse" is a group exhibition featuring eight international artists whose work explores a variety of experiences of the womxn flâneur in urban environments. Works in the exhibition include photography, drawing, audio, and sculpture to consider how gender shapes and/or plays a role in these encounters.
Eggert’s project, YOU ARE HER, explores issues of empathy and consent, thinking of the college campus as a site of construction. Signage is used to aid in navigating the present political moment and asks how we can construct a safer and more equitable future for womxn people of color.
