Position: Education Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 40 hours per week, non-exempt; Tuesday – Saturday flexible schedule

The Education Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement the Art Council’s philosophy of education and public programs for children and adults. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, develops and coordinates education efforts and public programs including classes, workshops, student programs, family events, concerts, films, and other educational activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as program coordinator for education and program efforts of the Arts Council, including signature programs such as First Fridays, Thursdays at the Arts Center, and Saturday programming for families
- Creates and maintains event registration forms, mailing lists, solicitation letters, reservations lists, information packets, entry forms, and any other event needs as required
- Coordinates registration for all classes, camps, and special programs and maintains active and prompt communication with participants
- Ensures prompt payment of artists, performers, and educators for educational programs and events
- Oversees Arts Center tours, docent program, and education interns
- Selects and oversees contracted art educators and instructors
- Develops and maintains departmental budgets, monthly reports, and tracks expenses and expenditures
- Establishes community partnerships to advance outreach and funding opportunities
- Collaborates with staff to develop content for web, print, email, and social media marketing of programs and event
- Demonstrates leadership as an active participant in staff, board, and community meetings
- Contributes to the continued development and promotion of the Council’s brand and brand identity
- Partners with colleagues to provide data and content for sponsorship and grant efforts
- Assists in the development and adherence to best practices and departmental policies
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
-Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office
- Possesses excellent written, organizational, speaking, and interpersonal skills
- Highly proficient in the use of computers and software applications, including database management; the ability to learn new applications
- Demonstrated outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal skills
- Possesses a positive attitude, initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work independently as well as in team environment
- Willingness to work a flexible Tuesday - Saturday schedule including:
Tue 10am-5pm | Wed 10am-6 | Thurs 2pm-9pm | Fri 10am-5pm | Sat 10am - 5pm;
(beginning January 2017) Additional hours will be required on First Fridays and other special events

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Masters Degree in Art Education, Art History and/or equivalent work experience
- One to four years past experience working in museums or cultural institutions
- Demonstrated knowledge and a keen interest in multidisciplinary approaches to educational programming for broad and diverse audiences and ages
