Michael Bise regularly contributes criticism and reviews for the online art journal Glasstire. Bise’s work consists of graphite drawings that combine autobiographical narrative with labor-intensive attention to detail, creating a disorienting relationship between personal psychology and formal picture making concerns. He received his BFA at UNT and his MFA at University of Houston. His work has recently been exhibited at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, Illinois; the Art Museum of Southeast Texas and the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a recipient of a Houston Arts Alliance Individual Artist Grant and an Artadia Finalist in 2014.
