The CVAD Foundations Program welcomes Masha Vlasova as the Lecturer in Foundations. Masha holds an MFA from the Yale University School of Art.
The Department of Design is pleased to announce that Bill Morgan will join the CVAD faculty and the Interior Design Program this fall. He is a licensed architect with 35+ years of practice experience, with a design emphasis on educational facilities.

Black has taught Core drawing and figure drawing at UNT since 2003. She was a crew member for the Sol Lewitt mural project at DFW airport and created an original mural which is in the permanent collection of the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin TX. She has taught workshops at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, was a staff member at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and has shown her work in exhibitions throughout DFW.
Laura Beard is an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas. A recent recipient of a Research Enabling Grant from UNT will allow her to pursue her research in Vienna, Austria followed by a solo exhibition at the Manfred Flener Gallery in Vienna. Her recent solo shows include “An Accumulation of Nothing” at Sternstudios, Vienna, Austria; “Recursion” at the Hunt Gallery in St. Louis; “The Antigua Series” at Space B in New York, NY; “Thick and Smooth” at the Bruno David Gallery in St.
Elaine Pawlowicz received her BFA from Southern Methodist University in 1990 and her MFA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1993. She continued to live and work as an artist in Chicago for the following 15 years before teaching at the University of North Texas in 2006.
James Thurman is an Associate Professor at the University of North Texas’ College of Visual Arts & Design, where he coordinates the 3D Core program as well as teaches in the Metalsmithing & Jewelry area. He received his MFA in Metalsmithing from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and his BFA in Sculpture from Carnegie Mellon University. In 2010, he completed a four-year term on the Board of Directors of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and is now currently serving as Editor of Technical Articles for the organization.
