About
Ana M. Lopez is a professor teaching metalsmithing and jewelry in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas. She holds an M.F.A. in metalsmithing and jewelry from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and an M.A. in the History of American Decorative Arts from Parsons School of Design, New York City, and The Smithsonian Associates, Washington, D.C.
Her creative work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She is also the author of the reference book Metalworking Through History: An Encyclopedia, published in the Spring of 2009 by Greenwood Press.
Courses taught include Beginning Metalsmithing & Jewelry Studio, Intermediate Metalsmithing & Jewelry: Plasticity, Intermediate Metalsmithing and Jewelry: Technology, Advanced Metalsmithing and Jewelry Studio and Graduate Metalsmithing and Jewelry Studio.

Ana M. Lopez is a metalsmith, educator and decorative arts scholar. Her creative work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including 2018 solo shows at the Brookline Art Center in Boston, Mass., and the Delaplaine Art Center in Frederick, Md. She was selected for a 2019 Maker-Creator Fellowship at the Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library in Winterthur, Delaware. Ana is the author of the reference book Metalworking Through History: An Encyclopedia, published by Greenwood Press and numerous other scholarly articles. She will be a speaker at Looking Forward: A Contemporary Blacksmithing and Metal Design Symposium at Bryn Athen in the summer of 2019. Lopez served as a juror for the 2015 Materials Hard and Soft national craft exhibition and has lectured extensively on her work, including as a presenter at the 2015 East Carolina University Material Topics Symposium, the 2017 Society of North American Goldsmiths conference and the 2019 College Art Association Conference. Ms. Lopez is serving on the Fulbright Specialist Roster through December 2020.
